Infrared Astronomy with AKARI

Why is infrared (IR) important?

We want to reveal the high redshift universe.

However, most star formation is hidden by dust (>90% at z > 1)

(e.g. Goto et al. 2019).

We can see through dust with IR.

AKARI has performed observation on the North Ecliptic Pole (NEP) field.

With AKARI's unique 9-band continuous photometry in NIR wavelength. We can reveal the mystery of the distant universe.
